One of the biggest aspects of life is giving and receiving.
I have been a chronically bad receiver.
Unable to believe people when they said they loved me.
Couldn’t ask for help.
Believed with conviction that I had to do life on my own.
These days, I find myself learning to receive.
This involves learning to focus on and take in the good.
Rick Hanson’s work has really helped me in this pursuit as I learn to rewire my brain for positive experiences and being able to expect good things to happen.
It certainly takes work and small steps to change.
Opening my heart little by little has been slowly life-changing as I have felt supported for the first time in my life.
I hope that for you too.
So take a few moments today to imagine the people who support you even just a little, to take a few breaths and access what it feels like to be supported.
Breath into it.
Hold it in your center.
And trust that the love and support will return.
