Pleasure myths:
I have to wait until I earn it to have pleasure, goodness, joy.
Or
If I feel good now, something bad will happen.
It has taken me a while to break my attachment to suffering. Suffering has such glamification in many facets of religious society, particularly within Christianity.
Feeling good comes with a lot of baggage. And it is worth it to sit with the beliefs that carry all of that weight.
What if the world is better off when we are in pleasure?
What if a turned-on woman is of greater service than a woman who attempts to meet everyone else’s needs first?
Lovely, goodness is everywhere.
SO maybe its time to start taping into it.
So take a minute to feel this song, to feel what its like to connect to your body, hips, skin, the pleasure of being alive.
Take a moment to connect deeply with your breath and sigh out the limitations.
You deserve pleasure. Your body craves it. And when you can access pleasure in small doses more regularly, the unhealthy habits will be less and less.
“Become absorbed in intense experiences.
Go all the way.
Be drenched in the energies of life.
Enter the world beyond separation.”
I have been loving the idea of everyday luxury.
Asking myself what I can do to bring more pleasure into the small moments.
How can I slow down a little more?
Dance more slowly.
Everyday luxury for me is when I choose the china rather than the paper plate for my morning toast.
Or using the wine glass for sparkling water.
It doesn’t have to be expensive or take much time.
But it takes some intentionality, effort, and the belief that you are worth the extra sparkle.
I have been in the place of believing that I am not worth the luxury and I can tell you that there is another side to the shame and the self-doubt.
Keep challenging those lies and allow yourself to feel just a little more goodness today.
I’m here for you.
